My cute single niece.

FYI – if you went to school with me, you’re old enough to be her father.

Talia in the sun.

I’m having fun playing with my iPhone. This was done using the layering feature in PhotoFX to apply 3 or 4 filters. The original picture was taken Memorial Day weekend at Salt Creek Beach in Laguna Niguel.

Still Investigating Personal Publishing

June 20, 2009

I still haven’t figured out the perfect workflow for this blogging stuff. I’m playing around with a few sites, including:

  1. Apple’s MobileMe using iWeb – http://www.OurBigTribe.com
  2. Google’s Blogger – http://brianelliott.blogspot.com/
  3. WordPress – https://elliobr.wordpress.com/
  4. Tumblr – http://brianelliott.tumblr.com/

Each does some things really, really well, and others not so well.

MobileMe seems to have the most bells and whistles, but mo-blogging from the iPhone is kind of kludgey (basically, you publish to a site like Tumblr that provides RSS services and then plug the RSS info into a widget that you paste onto an iWeb page. This also means that clicks on blog entries open the blog site and move the reader away from the MobleMe page – I can’t decide if that’s okay with me or not.)

There are iPhone apps that can publish to the other blog sites. As I’ve mentioned before, there’s also MacJournal, that can be used to publish an entry to multiple sites (except I haven’t figured out how to use it with Tumblr yet.)

So there you have it. There are a lot of venues for publishing and a lot of tools that can be used, but, IMHO, there isn’t any single do-all, be-all site or tool that I like for everything.

I’ll keep playing and tell you about what I like and don’t like as I go.

Stuck on so you think you can dance.

Can’t stop watching. Some parts are like passing by an accident, you just have to slow down and look. Some of the dancers are simply amazing.
